While I was away perfecting my skills of being an awesome hermit, I found I had a lot of time to search out the rare, the odd and the quirky. One day, not too long ago, I stumbled across a charming German man who made me laugh. I mean really laugh, belly jiggling laugh. His name is Flula Borg.
Before coming to America, Flula had a huge cult following. He was a dancer, singer, songwriter and techno DJ. He even had a mainstream hit, "Kuhchen", a response to the Mad Cow crisis in Europe. Genius!
Flula came to America and settled in Los Angeles. Where else? He makes regular appearances at the Viper Room, The Derby and among other venues in LA. Now, this is really big...Flula has participated in the Texas Redneck Games. He was the first non-American to enter the games. And, in true Flula style, he actually won a medal in the Mattress Chunk. What a Renaissance man!
I found Flula on YouTube. His channel's videos are reflections on his life in America, his confusions with the English language and his curiosity with idioms such as "party pooper", "balls to the walls" and "kicking butts and taking names". For some reason he records his videos in his car at odd hours of the morning. I don't know why, maybe it's the acoustics. Anyway, I do hope you enjoy Flula's video and will visit his channel on YouTube.
Without further ado.....I give you Flula!
"Jennifer is a Party Pooper" Nearly 4 million views!
You can find more of Flula here at his YouTube Channel.
In case you missed yesterday's post, you still have time to enter Caption This: No. 39. So, pop on over and hit me with your best shot!
I have pooped at a Party in the Water closet with the door closed.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I even light a match or, if I find a candle, I'll light that.
Wow, you're a real gentleman! I bet you even remove the dishes from the sink before you pee in it!
ReplyDeleteSomething smells funny at this here party.
ReplyDelete:)
I know, it's Jennifer!
DeleteI wonder if anyone's told Gunther...sorry, Flula (what kind of a name is that anyway?), "don't shit me man". I'd like to see him wrestle with that one.
ReplyDeleteAhahaha, good one. By the way, I think Flula translates as Dufus in the English speaking world.

ReplyDeleteEwwww, then blood & guts would be everywhere...gross!
DeleteIs Flula Borg related to Locutus of Borg? Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Prepare for the lulz.
ReplyDeletePossibly, they are both out of this world. Ha!
DeleteI love Flula! No one at my house seems to get the humor, but I lol every time I see him. He is hilarious! :)
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I had a roommate from Berlin that was very similar to Flula in her understanding of American idioms. What a crack-up!
DeleteThe nuances of the English language confuse home grown citizens. I can imagine what the language does to foreigners. "Off the wall" must be a tough one to explain.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out Flula's channel on YouTube. He seems genuinely confused.
I swear, Lauren, I have laughed so hard at his videos. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laughs! (Which for me started as i tried in vain to pronounce his name... (This is surveygirl46 - Everything but the Furr - Wordpress "can't verify my credentials" whatever the hell that means...lol)
ReplyDeleteHey there, Ms. "Unverified Credentials"! Flula, what a funny, funny guy!
