I am so excited this morning because I am making plans to attend the Coachella Music Festival April 16th, 17th and 18th near Indio, California. This festival features many genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop and electronic music as well as large sculptural art.
In past years artists such as Leonard Cohen, Sir Paul McCartney Prince and Madonna have taken the stage to entertain the masses. This year's lineup includes a couple of new bands I've taken a liking to like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show along with Jay-Z, John Waters, Shooter Jennings and Sly Stone.
It's been years since I have attended anything like this and I cannot wait to make my way to the front of the stage to dance the night away. So, if you find yourself in this part of the country during this particular weekend, drop on by for a lot of great music and fun!
You lucky stiff. Rock out, Me-Me! Wha? Gary Numan???? There's a flashback.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...that does sound like fun...
ReplyDeleteI hear about Coachella every year, generally after it's happened...of course, this time, finding out before it's happened, only means that it's another addition to my list of "trips I'd like to take if I could swing the cash..."
Nice! It sounds like great fun. Swing your hips a few times for me!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Wish I could be there right next to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time! Pack your love beads and some glow sticks just in case!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have such a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteSly Stone of Sly and The Family Stone? Not that I can imagine there'd be more than one.
ReplyDeleteJust this past week I was wondering whatever happened to him. The last I knew of him he was on Letterman -- man, probably more than 10 years ago. I remember Dave asking what he was going to do and Sly said, "Write some hit songs." Dave chuckled and said, "If you're going to write songs, they might as well be hits."
Old Crow Medicine Show Rocks! I haven't seen them live, but I hear they put on a great show. Sounds like it's going to be a good time.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful time, I spent a holiday in California 2 yrs ago and it was great, this june I'm off to Nashville to The Grand Ole Opry my favourite Irish singer is recording a show for PBS.
ReplyDeletelOVED the videos, do have a good time.
Yvonne.
Sounds like a fun time. I haven't attended a music festival in a while. We used to go all the time. Have some fun for me too while you're there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteI wanna go!
ReplyDeleteThe Old Silly
What an interesting and eclectic group. I wish I was going. Have a ball there.
ReplyDeleteIt's official: I'm old. I haven't been to a music festival since 1980.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a blast! Love Edward Sharpe!
ReplyDeleteFor more about the long-elusive Sly, please get my book: I Want to Take You Higher: The Life and Times of Sly & the Family Stone (Backbeat Books, 2008, 2009)
ReplyDeletethat sounds awesome! I can't even remember my last music outing...KISS maybe? (-:
ReplyDeleteYou will enjoy it, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteIn music, there is an ineffable quality. It amazes me how the arrangement of musical tones can have such a profound impact on us.
I plan to see Alice In Chains April 30th, but that's about all I've got rollin'....
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance, flash Paul for old time's sake. Or Madonna. Whatever turns your crank.
ReplyDeleteWhat a total blast. I can't remember the last festival type music event I went to. I'm sure I was stoned and that's probably why, but I'm sure I had a good time and I'm sure you will, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like fun. Will it be televized? Make sure you give us a sign so we know which one you are when you're up there dancing. I'd be joining you up on stage if I'd be there too. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI do like these two songs. They make me move my body and dance. Thanks for sharing.
