Half-Baked Ideas

Oh, man. It was bound to happen sooner or later. After 202 posts this year, I am stuck. I have started three different posts this morning and none of them worked. What am I to do? I've got blogger's block.

First, I wrote about a situation last night about how a man was holding up the line at the check out. He wanted to know, "Why there no sistahs working up in here, where's the diversity?" He asked this of the Native American checker and the Hispanic manager. As I wrote this story, well, it just fell flat.

Then I began writing a list about talk in the kitchen and at the table on Thanksgiving Day. You know, how the most innocent conversation can sound dirty. Such as, "Wow, what a spread!", "If I don't undo my pants, I'll burst!" and "Talk about huge breasts!" Lists, they are so overdone, I scrapped it.

Finally, I was ready to post about some weird things in the news. Like the Texas man who says a low-flying bird and a dropped cell phone caused him to crash his million-dollar car into a salt marsh. Meh, who cares? His insurance will cover it.

So, I've given up. Sorry, dear readers. I've got nothing for today, but some half-baked ideas. The good news is, tomorrow is a new day.

  1. You called them "half-baked" but they sounded like good ideas to me. Besides, you had three, to use your term, half-baked ideas. 3*0.5 = 1.5, meaning you had a baked and a half idea.

  3. Gee, maybe my winning the Golden Weiney on Saturday was just too much for you to take. Sorry, Me-Me.

Oh yeah, this happens to all of us. My first comment was half-baked.

  4. @ Lee - Don't ya just hate it?

@ Joel - Nice try. Hey, maybe tomorrow I'll put all three together and get one!

    @ Dufus #1 - oops!

Dufus #2 - Maybe that's is, I'm happy it happened though, no more whining from you.

  5. I never run out of post ideas, just time. Honestly. And neither do you, apparently, because this non-post read pretty much like a post-post. Comments, on the other hand, sometimes elude me.

  6. Ack, you and Noname.

He did a post about bloggers block and BOTH of you did well with it.

    What am I missing?

    Wait, don't answer that!

  7. You aren't the only one, some of the other bloggers are just posting reposts. Your ideas sound great, especially the diversity and the sistahs one. What fun could be had with that!

I just wrote the post about bloggers writing the on the same topics, like Quirky mentioned, of course I had nothing else to write about so I'm in the same boat as you, even threw some sexual innuendo in there. BTW I added your link, sorry I forgot it...Mondays suck.

  8. @ MikeWJ - Thanks for the vote of confidence. I just hate getting stuck.

@ Quirky - I called myself checking out other blogger's post this morning. I didn't recall that Dufus blogged about nothing. He covered Steven Tyler, that's not nothing.

@ Jen - Some people blame it on brain farts or the moon. I, however, blame it on the bassanova.

  9. Hmmm...this is approximately your fourth post since my last one...and I've been patting myself on the back for being prolific after a dry spell...

  10. The post Quirks is talking about was a few weeks back. And you're having a senior's moment, 'cause you left a comment. It's here: http://nonamedufus.blogspot.com/2009/10/matter-over-mind.html

  11. @ Dr.Jay - But, it's the readers, I'm doing it for the millions that stop here daily!!!

@ Dufus - Oh, I see. Calling me on my Old Timer's Disease. Thanks, pal.

  12. And even so, you didn't talk about nothing. That doesn't even make sense but you know what I mean. Love the new pic with your sombrero!

  13. I hate when I have a good start and then nothing comes of it. I like your starts...

  14. And here I am, commenting on "nothing"!

    Great nothing post, Me-me!

@ Lin - Thank you, maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

@ Geek Girl - Ha, ha, the joke is on you!

  16. Me-Me: You hate getting stuck? Well, that might explain your creativity problem, then!

Sorry about that -- I was just anticipating Moooog's comment. :)

  17. @ MikeWJ - You feeling alright there? I'm worried if you are taking on moooooog's persona.

  19. I think it's really normal for bloggers to encounter such a situation. BTW, your post made me laugh, lol.

  20. Half-baked Me-Me is better than most fully cooked other bloggers.

    Weirdest. Sentence. Ever.

  21. Oh, come on. I know you can run with that grocery store one.

  22. It took 202 posts for you to get writer's block? It only takes me about 2.

  23. Although most people agree that ALL of my posts are bad ideas - I too suffer from bloggers block from time to time.

Occassionally I'll come up with a good idea only to have it fizzle out before it amounts to anything. Premature creation I guess.
