All In A Daze Work.....

My friend Don over at Beyond Left Field recently submitted a term to the Urban Dictionary. This term, I'm sure, has affected us bloggers at one time or another - it's called blogger brain.

Here is Don's entry.....

When one's brain has turned to a mass of useless matter, e.g., a loser or retard due to spending too much time blogging and not enough time in the "real" world.

Early signs of "blogger brain" include: feelings of guilt for missing a post, signing in every hour to check for new comments, and forgetting your children's names...

It's useless doctor. I've tried reaching her, but it's as though she's in another dimension. It's as though she is suffering from "blogger brain."

Forget him...he's zoned out with a case of "blogger brain."

This morning I had my usual cup of coffee to get my brain firing on all cylinders before I sat down to write today's post. Just yesterday I had a couple of ideas; but, for the life of me, I could not remember what I had thought was so clever then to turn it into a post today. Been there?

I sat and stared at my screen which seemed like forever, I visited a few blogs hoping to jar my memory, still I was not able to remember a thing. I've got nothing. No doubt, I have blogger brain.

To help me through this ailment and to keep me on track, I decided to take a cue from Sarah Palin and write my chores for the day on my hand. Have you ever tried to write on your hand which has been slathered with lotion? Arrrggghhh! After numerous tries, I headed off to the sink to wash my hands with dish detergent. Yep, that gave me a clean slate.

That's it, that's my day, no more blogger brain.

Thanks, Sarah!

  5. Cured! I've got a really good cure for it, but I've been told that it's illegal. Guess I'll just have to use it for myself. Glad you're feeling more brainy though.

  7. Wow! Sarah DOES have redeeming qualities and when she rubs her face......Oops!

Your day sounds like mine, especially today. No errands, no classes, no get hair done! DANG this blasted snow. ;-)

Wait. I have an oven. I see baking in the near future.

  8. I am currently suffering from 'blogger brain'. Have too many thoughts crowding and don't know what to blog about.

I have not posted since 2 days and I feel as I have neglected to look after my Baby :)

  9. Ha! How is it that you still come across as thoughtful, intelligent and wise when you are blogger brained?

  10. @ Don - Yeah, more brainy, that's me!

@ Dufus - Amaysing, you betcha.

@ Geek Girl - I'll leave the baking to you. Did I mention that I absolutely love Buffalo Chip cookies?

@ Lazy Pineapple - Don't you just hate it when that happens? Uh, boy.

@ Quirky - Oh, you sweet talker, you. Thank you for the vote of confidence.

@ Mrsblogalot - It's good to know I am not alone. Glad I could help.

  11. Those were words on her hand? I thought Sarah just needed some coaching on the specifics of proper butt wiping. My bad.

  14. I constantly have "blog farts"... Maybe I should try the The Palin, but back in high school I got caught doing The Palin in science and I got detention... Hmph!

  15. LOL. I never know what I'm gonna post about until my fingers hit the keyboard. Unfortunately not the best way to become a famous blogger. Not that I care about that crap anyway.

Eat Pray Love keeps playing through my head. Weird. I get the eat part though.

  16. "Why does Kelly have such a blank look on her face?"

"She has blogger brain. There is no cure."

  17. See, when I have an idea to blog about, I write it and schedule it for a few days in the future. Aside from my post about winning the Phallus, my last 3 (and upcoming one for tomorrow) were all written on the same day because I had one major running of ideas. Now I'm at a loss for what to write next week...lol.

Hmmmm thinking about it, that sounds like I've definitely got blogs on the brain or for short Blogger Brain :D

  18. Very funny post. Yup. Blogger brain is a terrible affliction. I wonder what Freud would have said? Maybe something like: Blogger brain is the manifestation of deep-seeded motherboard issues.

  19. I have blogger brain for sure.

  20. Wow, Sarah Palin is brilliant and it looks like you have a very full day. You're going to need that nap.

  22. "Blogger's Brain" sounds so much nicer than "Senior Moment." Thanks. That's a keeper.

  23. "Have you ever tried to write on your hand which has been slathered with lotion?"

That sounded a little perverted, but then, my mind is always in the gutter.

But back to the point of your post. I know exactly what you mean by the "blogger brain" condition. Happens to me all the time. If I don't write my ideas down when I'm thinking of them, forget it. Literally. As far as being so immersed in the blog world, that everything else takes 2nd or 3rd place. I can't afford to do that, myself. That does sound like a beautiful dream, sometimes, though. :)

  24. Funny, I always write on the back of my hand, right where Senor Wences would put a face.

  25. Oh. The outbreak is terrible. I have just a few symptoms. Not the whole of it... lol

BTW, Sarah seems to be pretty intelligent!!!

  26. I tried to read this post, but I got blogger brain and drifted off. Sorry. And you can't fool me: Nobody ever learned anything useful from Sarah Palin.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm confused...Sarah wrote with white chocolate on her hand??? Was she afraid of stroking out????

    ReplyDelete
  28. If blogger brain means putting off chores so that you can read blogs, then I have it! lol
